Writer
Matt Whittet
A movie’s path to being made begins long before an actor reads a line or a cinematographer picks up a camera. The initial concept for Girl Asleep was conceived by Matt, Director Rose Myers and Designer Jonathon Oxlade. From this early idea Matt created the story full of characters and action.
Play VideoHair and Makeup
Catherine Biggs
Tasked with transforming ordinary people into the beautiful and weird characters and creatures we see on screen, hair and makeup artists are akin to magicians. Catherine had a great time on Girl Asleep making crazy forest creatures and cool ’70s hairdos.
Production Designer
Jonathon Oxlade
Everything in a movie like Girl Asleep - down to the labels on milk bottles in the fridge - are designed and made from scratch, and the person who decides what those things should look like is the production designer. Jonathon made Girl Asleep the stylish extravaganza that it is.
Play VideoComposer
Harry Covill
A film without music is hardly a film at all. Harry helps us understand what’s happening in Girl Asleep by creating music that enhances what's happening on screen.
Sound Designer
Luke Smiles
If a dog barks on set and no one records it, did it really happen? Well it doesn’t matter, says Luke, because a sound designer basically makes every sound in the film, and brings it together with the music and dialogue.
Cinematographer
Andy Commis
A cinematographer sees the movie in their mind's eye before it’s made. Andy took the Director's vision and brought it to life on screen.
Play VideoDirector
Rose Myers
A director is a film set’s fearless leader - their ideas inform every decision every person in the cast and crew makes. For Rose, Girl Asleep was her debut film as director – and it was a good way to start.
Play VideoEditor
Karryn de Cinque
During a film shoot hundreds of hours of footage are recorded. Editor Karryn de Cinque whittled all that down to under an hour and a half, revealing the best version of the story possible.
Producer
Jo Dyer
Without a producer, no film shoot would ever happen. Jo was responsible for organising everything on Girl Asleep - from getting the right people on the set at the right time, to making sure everything stayed on budget.
Play VideoHead Costume Maker
Renate Henschke
All the fantastical costumes worn by Girl Asleep’s forest creatures were hand stitched in the on-set workshop. Costume makers like Renate can make almost anything - from a gloop-covered Abject Man, to a leathery Huldra vest.
Play VideoJade
Maiah Stewardson
Maiah had acted in theatre before she was cast in Girl Asleep, but never thought she would get a role in the film when she sent in her blind audition. Maiah plays Jade, the leader of the terrifyingly popular triplets.
The Huldra
Tilda Cobham Hervey
In Scandinavian folklore a Huldra is a female forest spirit. Beautiful and seductive with an animal tail, she offers help as a keen observer, warning of anything that may go wrong.

Genevieve
Imogen Archer
