Education Program
At Windmill, we often have the privilege of being (one of) a child’s first experiences in the theatre. So, we want to make it count. We offer a range of opportunities for students and educators to take our stories further throughout the year.
In addition to providing dedicated schools’ performances and pricing for all South Australian seasons, we collaborate with an incredible community of artists, educators and creatives to create free resources that deepen engagement with our work.

2024/5 Education Season
Grug and the Rainbow
From the top of a burrawang tree to the end of a rainbow.
After a rainy day, Grug heads outside to see a beautiful rainbow striped across the sky.
In a magical adaptation of Ted Prior’s beloved picture books, Grug and the Rainbow sees our grassy little friend embark on an epic adventure to bask in the colours of the illusive rainbow.
Moss Piglet
An explosive portrait of the tardigrade – a microscopic critter that is basically indestructible. For Year 1 – Year 4 on resilience and how even the tiniest things can be the strongest.
Little Board
Launching in 2025, the Little Board aims to empower young members as leaders and artists to articulate opinions, enhance leadership skills and foster a sense of ownership, as they use their voice to help shape our future operations.
Study Guides
Education is at the core of what we do here at Windmill. We work with artists, industry-leading educators, hip designers and the brainiest software developers to create digital education resources for deep engagement with our stories. Our resources include exclusive behind the scenes content, dedicated study guides linked to the Australian Curriculum and (award-winning!) immersive digital experiences that plunge users into the ideas that inspire our original repertoire of work.

Free Seats Program
Windmill’s Free Seats Program provides 15% of seats to every performance season free of charge to South Australian schools ranked 1-4 on the Department for Education’s Index of Disadvantage. This enables us to provide equitable access to the transformative impact that theatre and live performance has on young people.
For more information, please send us an email.
Access and Inclusion
At Windmill, we want to ensure that theatre remains accessible and caters to the needs of young people from all over South Australia. Access services, including Auslan interpretation and audio description, are available upon request to all schools’ performances.
